Ration cards are a state subject, so every state has its own PDS portal. The workflow is broadly similar.
Find your state portal Search "PDS <state name>" on Google and prefer the .gov.in or .nic.in domain. Bookmark it.
Check status Look for "Ration Card Status" or "Beneficiary Details". Search by card number, Aadhaar or head-of-family name.
Correction Add or remove a member using the state's specific form (usually Form 3 or Form 4). Upload proof — birth certificate for a new-born, marriage certificate to add a spouse, death certificate to remove.
Portability One Nation One Ration Card allows you to draw your entitlement from any fair-price shop in the country. Ask the shopkeeper to check via ePOS if your card is portable-tagged.
Never pay bribes for a ration card. Escalate via state grievance if asked.
